Daily habits that cause
by Derek Henry
(NaturalNews) By now, you may have heard that cancer rates are rising to a point where 44% of men and 39% of women will be diagnosed with the disease. With all the research and drugs being created over the past 30 years, you would think that it would at least be holding steady or declining, but, sadly, that is not the case. So what common patterns are we encountering for these rates to be rising so precipitously throughout North America?
Everyday factors contributing to the rise of cancer
There is a commonly held notion that ‘everything’ causes cancer nowadays, and although it may often be a flippant response from someone who is frustrated by all the things they need to avoid, it is becoming glaringly obvious that a wide variety of our core activities are indeed contributing to cancer growth.
Behold, a shortened list of these cancer causing factors:
– Sunlight ultraviolet rays
– EMF exposure
– Ionizing, microwave oven, and nonionizing radiation from domestic appliances
– Overhead power lines
– Nuclear radiation
– Pesticides and herbicides
– Industrial toxins
– Drinking or bathing in polluted, chlorinated, or fluoridated water
– Hormonal therapies
– Immune suppressive drugs
– Consuming irradiated foods and food additives
– Mercury toxicity
– Dental fillings, root canals, cavitations and metals
– Use of street, prescription and non-prescription drugs
– Nutritional deficiencies
– Consumption of synthetic ‘foods’
– Chronic stress
– Negative emotions
– Depressed thyroid
– Intestinal toxicity
– Viral, bacterial, and fungal infections
– Blocked detoxification pathways
– Genetic predisposition
– Physical irritants (e.g. asbestos)
– Alcohol consumption
One can see from reading the list that many of us are currently, or have extensively in the past, engaged or had many of these challenges.
The only way to halt these scary cancer statistics is to be aware of the factors contributing to cancer, avoid them at all costs and engage in a clean and nourishing lifestyle that does not promote its growth.
What can we do to put the odds more in our favour?
First of all, eat a clean, alkaline diet full of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and probiotics on a daily basis that supports the development of a healthy immune system. Examples of such foods include:
– Algae (e.g. chlorella, spirulina)
– Fermented foods (vegetables, kefirs)
– Medicinal mushrooms like reishi and chaga
– Adaptogenic herbs like astragulus, gynostemma, siberian ginseng, goji
– Aloe vera
Also look to consume pure water, get fresh air, expose yourself to the sunshine for 15-20 minutes a day (don’t expose your skin to the point of burning), exercise and consider colonics and coffee enemas.
In contrast, you need to limit or avoid dairy, sugar, grains and animal protein, which are all hard on digestion and the immune system.
This is certainly not an exhaustive list, as entire books are catered to cancer therapies and how to avoid cancer altogether. The core theme in all of them is to:
– Avoid all impurities in food, air and water
– Cleanse your body with alkaline, easily digestible and nutrient rich foods (including necessary whole food supplementation)
– Begin a protocol of liver cleansing and regenerating herbs
Even though it won’t be easy, the trends can be reversed. We just need to recognize the power of the body to heal itself when it is given the right medicine and carry out those actions on a consistent basis.

(NaturalNews) Heart disease and cancer in all their different forms take the lives of nearly three-quarters of all men, women and children in the US each year. Yet thousands of well constructed research bodies have shown that most chronic diseases can be prevented by making simple lifestyle changes including diet, smoking, physical activity and exposure to toxic household and environmental pollutants through our early and middle adult years. Specific foods and nutrients such as resveratrol, curcumin, green tea and leafy greens have demonstrated specific properties that help to prevent and fight cardiovascular disease and cancer, and should be included as part of your regular daily diet and supplement plan.
A research study team based in Spain has published the result of their research in the journal, BMC Medicine that explains that those who eat nuts more than three times a week had a reduced risk of dying from cancer or cardiovascular disease than non-nut eaters. To conduct their research, scientists looked at the effect on the prevention of cardiovascular disease when the participants were put on a Mediterranean diet with extra nuts and extra virgin olive oil, compared with a control group following a low-fat diet.
Raw nuts, especially walnuts help lower blood pressure and blood lipids to thwart chronic disease
The scientists analyzed more than 7,000 people aged between 55 and 90 years, and divided them into two groups based on adherence to a Mediterranean style diet that included nuts, and especiallywalnuts, or those following a low-fat diet. The team found that people who eat more than three servings of nuts (1 serving equal approximately one ounce) a week had a 55 percent lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease and a 40 percent reduced risk of death from cancer.
Lead study author, Dr. Jordi Salas-Salvad commented “How nuts are able to prevent premature mortality is not entirely clear, nor why walnut should be better for you than other nuts. Walnuts have particularly high content of alpha-linoleic acid and phytochemicals…, along with fiber and minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium, may contribute to their healthy effect.” Past studies have demonstrated that walnuts in particular are a beneficial part of a healthy diet and are the best source of antioxidants, containing twice the amount as normal nuts.
Researchers also note that people who ate nuts had a lower body mass index and smaller waist. Further, this group was found to be more physically active and less likely to smoke. The study authors conclude “Questions about specific constituents, amount, duration and type of nuts to be consumed remain to be elucidated. Meanwhile, we might need to focus on the question of how to better promote nut consumption in the population and sustainably integrate it into the daily diet.” Nutrition experts recommend replacing one daily serving of fruits and vegetables with a one ounce serving of raw nuts to significantly lower the risk of dying from heart disease and cancer.

(NaturalNews) To the many traditional cultures around the world that have long utilized the spice in cooking and medicine, turmeric’s amazing anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-cancer benefits are no secret. But modern, Western cultures are only just now beginning to learn of the incredible healing powers of turmeric, which in more recent days have earned it the appropriate title of “king of all spices.” And as more scientific evidence continues to emerge, turmeric is quickly becoming recognized as a fountain of youth “superspice” with near-miraculous potential in modern medicine.
A cohort of scientific studies published in recent years have shown that taking turmeric on a regular basis can actually lengthen lifespan and improve overall quality of life. A study conducted on roundworms, for instance, found that small amounts of curcumin, the primary active ingredient in turmeric, increased average lifespan by about 39 percent. A similar study involving fruit flies revealed a 25 percent lifespan increase as a result of curcumin intake.
In the first study, researchers found that turmeric helped reduce the number of reactive oxygen species in roundworms, as well as reduce the amount of cellular damage that normally occurs during aging. Curcumin was also observed to improve roundworms’ resistance to heat stress compared to those not taking the spice. And in fruit flies, curcumin appeared to trigger increased levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), an antioxidant compound that protects cells against oxidative damage. (http://www.lef.org)
“Given the long and established history of turmeric as a spice and herbal medicine, its demonstrated chemopreventive and therapeutic potential, and its pharmacological safety in model system, curcumin, the bioactive extract of turmeric, promises a great future in human clinical studies designed to prevent and/or delay age-related diseases,” explained the authors of a review on these and other animal studies involving turmeric.
Improve the quality of your life with therapeutic doses of curcumin
Even with all the data showing that it can help boost energy levels, cleanse the blood, heal digestive disorders, dissolve gallstones, treat infections, and prevent cancer, some health experts have been reluctant to recommend taking turmeric in medicinal doses until human clinical trials have been conducted. But unlike pharmaceutical drugs, taking turmeric is not dangerous, and civilizations have been consuming large amounts of it for centuries as part of their normal diets.
According to consumption data collected back in the 1980s and 1990s, the average Asian person consumes up to 1,000 milligrams of turmeric a day, or as much as 440 grams per year, which equates to roughly 90 milligrams of active curcuminoids per day at higher end of the concentration spectrum. And these figures, of course, primarily cover just the amount of turmeric consumed as food in curries and other traditional dishes, which means supplements with similar concentrations are perfectly safe and effective.
But the truth of the matter is that you can safely take much higher doses of both turmeric and curcumin, and doing so will provide even more benefits. The Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University (OSU) has compiled a thorough list of turmeric’s benefits with detailed information about the doses used to achieve such benefits.
